ABOUT THE INSTITUTE

SAI is privately owned nonprofit venture that houses my independent scholarship and writing on social science topics of interest to the educated public. The only income generated for me will be media royalties, mostly books. A variable % of income is funneled back into further research, book marketing and publishing operations.

The Institute is the next phase in a career that began w/academic training in cultural anthropology and transitioned to market research and consulting for consumer brands. 

My social science thinking benefits from deep immersion in the private sector, including its most optimistic and exciting niche: startups.  

Yet, my training began in the 1990s in the school of narrative ethnography. It is where I learned to interweave personal experiences with rigorous generalizations about social life.  For those who are interested, you may download my entire dissertation right HERE
