RESEARCH PROJECTS

Current Project - The Fate of Individualism

The current project focuses on understanding the ability of individualism as a cultural ideology to help/hinder Americans’ adaptation to rapid social changes of the late 20th/early 21st century. I am exploring how older Americans have navigated rapid changes in gender relations, class structure, food consumption, family life, work/career and fun/entertainment and how an individualist outlook has/has not helped them cope.  It is leading to a book hypothetically entitled: Our Worst Strength. If the ingoing hypothesis holds, that is!
The goal is to influence the broader educated and affluent elite, including policymakers at the federal, state and county levels by purging the individualist bias behind many policy solutions traditionally offered to help individuals, one at a time.
Subscribe below, if you’d like to be kept up-to-date on this project and get a free whitepaper on early findings I’ve uncovered.
